Welcome

Welcome to my homepage. Being something of a techno-dinosaur (and exceedingly ancient), I have sought the help of a good friend and colleague, Dr Christina Steel, who has graciously agreed to create these pages and update them as I send her new material.

In a previous incarnation of this page, I had included a lot of photographs of patterns in nature that I have taken over the years. I have posted about 3400 of my nature pictures on Instagram (@pattern_lover) and interested readers are welcome to follow me there.

Since September 2022 I have been the Column Editor for the Fermi Questions Column in The Physics Teacher (https://pubs.aip.org/aapt/pte). Each Column is accompanied by my own photograph (with the occasional exception) and takes the form of two questions based on the photograph. The questions are published first and the solutions in a later issue. Examples of these Columns may be found at the above link.

There may well be errors of omission or commission on this page, which ought to be placed at my feet, not Christina’s. Nevertheless, I hope you find it useful.
